Club night January 20th
Riverbank Rollick, a message from race director Dave Andrews:
Thanks to everybody who helped and marshalled at the Rollick on Sunday, and helped to make it such a great success again. We had a couple of organisational problems, but I am sure we can sort those out for next year. Have a look at the Race photos, and the photographer’s report, they really capture the spirit of the event.

Thursday’s route: Round town Route 1 (just over 6 miles. Cut out The Hacket loop for a 5 mile run. Return via Knapp Road and Gillingstool after The Hacket for a 4 mile run). Arthur will lead the main group, but we need a volunteer to lead the tempo group this week. Also Coached Efforts and Walking Group.
Alternatively, come and listen to Jim Constable talking about ‘Mind over Matter – Mental Preparation’. The fourth of our Winter Seminars begins after announcements. All welcome.
Winter Handicap Series – the winners will be announced on Thursday, and prizes handed out. A big thankyou to race director Wilf Burke for his efficient organisation whatever the weather. Scroll down the page for the results and his report on last week’s third and final race.
Next week (Jan 27) Ros Rowland is leading a night-trail run to Tockington, in addition to the usual Thursday runs. It’s not to be taken lightly though: The run should, at most, take us 90mins. I suggest that we leave at 7pm prompt so we are back for tea. It will be muddy running through woods, fields and on some road. This is the route. It’s a run we have done many times in the summer – but it’s challenging at night. You MUST have a head torch, bring a whistle if you have one, and of course wear a reflector bib. This isn’t a run to do if you have not done any off-road running in daylight.
Many thanks to Jim Godden who has volunteered to be TRC Men’s Team Captain for 2011. We now need a Women’s Team Captain to work with him.
Annual Meeting – the club AGM is on Friday, January 28, at Christ the King Social Club, 8pm. Everyone welcome. Please send items for the agenda to gareth.thomas@rosings.eclipse.co.uk . Up for discussion will be a proposal to change the club’s name to Thornbury Running and Triathlon Club. Don’t let others decide for you then moan about it afterwards – come along! Drinks at the bar afterwards.
